Artist: Max Weyl (1837-1914)
Weyl initially pursued a career in watch and clock repair, mastering the craft through an apprenticeship. By 1857, he relocated to Washington, D.C., transitioning into the jewellery trade with his own retail establishment. Nurturing a passion for painting, he began showcasing his artwork in the display windows of his shop. Over time he became known as the "American Daubigny”, his pieces garnered considerable admiration from art enthusiasts in Washington, ultimately finding their way into prestigious collections, including that of the White House.
