Artist: Peter De Wint (1784-1849)
Meet Peter De Wint, the English landscape painter extraordinaire! He started as an apprentice under John Raphael Smith, along with his best buddy William Hilton, learning the ropes of art and even buying his artistic freedom from Smith with a promise to paint 18 oil masterpieces.
In 1806, Peter's artistic journey led him to Lincoln, where he married Hilton's sister Harriet. Together, they lived in a vibrant art community. Peter exhibited at the Royal Academy and became a watercolour wizard. He painted picturesque landscapes in Lincolnshire and even ventured to Wales and Normandy for inspiration.
