Artist: Henry Moore (1831-1885)
Born in 1831 into a family of artists in Castlegate, Henry Moore quickly rose through the artistic ranks, exhibiting his work at renowned venues like the Royal Academy. Initially, he painted landscapes influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite movement.
However, a journey to North Devon changed his artistic course. The sea's ever-changing nature captivated him, leading to meticulous depictions of waves and boats in both oil and watercolour.
