Between 1889 and 1895, he pursued his artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, studying under the tutelage of Czech landscape painter Julius Mařák. During this time, he also joined the Mánes Union of Fine Arts, a notable artistic group. Following 1908, he established a permanent residence in Kassa.
