Artist: Louise Abbéma (1853 – 1927)

Louise Abbéma, a Belle Époque luminary, was born into a well-connected Parisian family. She gained fame for her portrait of Sarah Bernhardt at 23, and her art adorned prestigious venues like the Paris Opera House. Abbéma's talents spanned painting, sculpting, and printmaking, and she received numerous honors, including the Palme Academiques and Legion of Honor's Chevalier title. She passed away in 1927, leaving a lasting legacy. In recent years, her contributions to art, particularly by women, have gained renewed recognition, as seen in the 2018 exhibit "Women in Paris 1850-1900.
