Egbert Rubertus Derk Schaap, the Dutch virtuoso of both pen and brush, left his indelible mark on the world of art. His talents were showcased in the prestigious arenas of the 1924 and 1936 Summer Olympics. In the tapestry of his life, he found love in the form of Hendrika van der Pek, a fellow artist who shared his passion.

Today, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam stands as a guardian of his artistic legacy, housing not just a handful of his paintings but also showcasing nearly fifty of his meticulously crafted drawings.
